What brings a Mercedes-Benz into the shop
Air suspension
Air struts, lines and compressors on the E-Class, S-Class and the larger SUVs. A car that sits low after a cold night almost always has a leak somewhere in the system.
Oil leaks
Oil separator, valve cover and oil cooler gaskets — often noticed as a burning smell before there is ever a drip.
7G-Tronic transmission
The 7-speed automatic needs a fluid and filter service it rarely gets, and its conductor plate is a known cause of harsh shifts and limp mode.
Engine timing
Balance shaft and timing wear on the M272 and M273 V6 and V8 engines from the mid-2000s, and camshaft adjuster faults on later engines.
4MATIC
Transfer case and front differential service on 4MATIC cars and SUVs.
Servicing a Mercedes-Benz properly
Mercedes-Benz alternates Service A and Service B, with other items such as brake fluid, spark plugs and transmission fluid on their own timetable. We use the MB 229 oil approval your engine calls for and reset the ASSYST service indicator for what was done.
A Mercedes-Benz in a Regina winter
Air suspension and cold weather do not get along: seals stiffen and small leaks get bigger, which is why so many low-sitting Mercedes arrive in January. Batteries take a hit too, and many models carry a second, smaller auxiliary battery whose failure shows up as dash warnings rather than a no-start.

Mercedes-Benz questions
What is the difference between Service A and Service B?
Service A is the smaller one — oil and filter, fluid top-ups and an inspection. Service B adds items such as the cabin air filter and a more thorough inspection. Which one is due shows on your dash.
My Mercedes sits low in the morning. Is that serious?
It usually means an air suspension leak — a strut, a line or a valve. Driving it like that makes the compressor work much harder, so book it in before the compressor fails as well.
Do you reset the service indicator?
Yes. The ASSYST indicator is reset for the work that was done, so the next service shows up when it should.
